About me

Why Did I Become a Therapist?

I figured out that I wanted to become a mental health professional when I was 15 years old after taking sociology and psychology classes offered at my high school. I fell in love with all things mental health at that point, and I knew that I had to follow my dream to help others with their mental health.

I grew up in a small, intergenerational household, and I did not realize it until later, but I grew up from a young age struggling with anxiety. I was led to the counseling field through my own struggles with anxiety and adverse childhood experiences, and after being exposed to many people close to me who struggled with mental health and addiction, I began to get curious about our brains and the ways that humans change. This, tied with a desire to make a difference in the individual lives of others, began my journey to become a counselor.

My Credentials

After this point, my formal education began. I received my B.S. in Psychology from Georgia Southern University in 2020. I also minored in Childhood and Family Development as well as Gerontology. Throughout this time in my life, I went to counseling for the first time to explore my own struggles, and I worked with a wonderful counselor who made me feel seen, accepted, and positively challenged. I learned so much during this time, and I got to personally experience the change that is possible through forming a therapeutic relationship with a mental health counselor.

I graduated in May of 2024 with my Masters degree from the CACREP-accredited counseling program at the University of North Georgia after studying in two “tracks” that my program offered: Clinical Mental Health Counseling & College Counseling. These two specialties were the perfect intersections of my clinical interests and passions.

Over the past year, I was an intern at the UNG Community Counseling Clinic, where I had the privileged of being able to provide free services to underserved communities. I worked closely with a diverse range of clients, each presenting their unique challenges and strengths, as I provided therapeutic support and guidance. Currently, I am a pre-licensed counselor who is applying for my license as an Associate Professional Counselor (APC). I see clients in Georgia at CMS Counseling, LLC under the supervision of Christine M Shaheen-Ball, LPC, CPCS.

While I was a graduate student, I was an editor for my program’s newsletter. Although I have always loved to write, It was really throughout this time where I knew I wanted to continue my writing after I graduated. This leads us to here! When I am not counseling or writing, I enjoy hiking, running, playing video games, spending time with loved ones, building Lego, doing a craft that has gained my interest, or playing with my two cats!

My clinical interests

While I would describe my overall style as a therapist to be eclectic, where I pull from many different theories, I am most influenced by person-centered, developmental, Adlerian, and cognitive-behavioral approaches.
